Center point
“Dan tian/Hara/Tanden - Reservoir of “Vital Essence”
Your “Center point” or “Center” is the reservoir of your Prana/Qi/Chi/Ki/Vital Essence and is located 1 1/4” below your former umbilical cord connection to your mother’s womb… your navel. The Center point is one third of the way into the body and is approximately the size of your fist, linked with the nervous system and the nerve ganglia of the diaphragm - the muscular membranous partition separating the abdominal and thoracic cavities and functions in inflating and deflating the lungs when breathing.
Each human life begins and forms around a central point. The fertile cell begins to multiply and gestate around the area where the fetus is directly connected to the womb. In the womb this early growth is un- seeable, but here the life force/Vital Essence initiates cellular matter to increase and generate mass developing specific cellular functions for a warm abundant and fertile mass of plasma which is the growing fetus.
The point of connection of this growing mass to the womb is the umbilical cord; it sustains the growing mass/fetus with nutrients and water – it is the only point of contact with the outside world within its physical isolation in the womb.
For nine months the mothers Vital Essence mingles with the fetus, enabling the exchange of subtle and overt physical, emotional and chemical/hormonal cues between mother and the developing fetus.
Your “Center point” is the physical, mental and spiritual nexus of personal power, the nexus and reservoir for “Vital Essence Mobilization” the ineffable force that permeates our life – the essence of existence – the power that animates our bodies and mind. “Vital Essence” is linked intimately with the breath – but is not solely the breath itself.
To be intimately aware of and receptive to the energy of your “Center point” in every waking moment of life is the manifestation of your limitless internal power in all activities of life.
Be mindful of this “Center point” within space and time of the moment; by actively linking it with the breath, awareness and motion throughout the practice of sitting meditation.
